Obituary of Yvonne Chisholm

Chisholm, Yvonne (Loughran)

October 21, 1939 - March 28, 2020

Yvonne was born to John and Agnes (Mullally) Loughran and grew up in Bloomington, NE.  After high school graduation in 1957 she attended a post-secondary business school in Omaha and was employed in the Omaha area for several years.

She married Frank Hager in 1960 and moved to Wyoming where their daughter, Jeanne, was born. She later relocated to California following her marriage to Jerry Chisholm. They settled in Ridgecrest, CA at the end of his Navy career. She worked and retired from Ridgecrest Regional Medical Center at age 70 and then promptly went back to work part-time.

She will be remembered for her hard work and dedication to her positions in the health field, love of animals and cooking skills (famous fried chicken and gravy and infamous homemade peanut brittle).

She valiantly fought cancer keeping her humor throughout albeit sometimes with some “spiciness” and/or piss and vinegar!

She died peacefully at home with family at her bedside and with the support of Sharp Hospice Care.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne (Kevin) Donahue of El Cajon, grandson David Donahue and granddaughter Amanda Donahue,  sister Shirley (Ron) Puls of Omaha, nieces and nephews, loving neighbors and friends near and far and her fur babies.

A celebration of life will be held in the San Diego area at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice, your local animal shelter or by giving the gift of life by donating blood.

Donations could also be made to Sharp Hospice Care (619-667-1900 or grossmonthospitalfdn@sharp.com).

Thank you to all who helped in so many touching ways (calls, visits, haircuts, matzo ball soup, wine, prayers, cards, donuts, checking in, memes, humor, listening).
