Obituary of Bella Virgilio

Isabella (Bella) Virgilio entered this life on April 25, 1946 in San Diego, California and entered into rest on March 10, 2020 in San Diego, California. Preceded by her son James Eledge and parents Frank & Mary Virgilio. She will be deeply missed by her daughters Marianna Eledge and Christin Correia (Derek), granddaughters Ciara, Kayleigh and Saleah Correia, her brothers Mike and Nino Virgilio and extended family and friends.

Bella resided in Mission Hills her entire life. She attended St, Vincent’s Elementary School, the Academy of Our Lady of Peace High School, and the Mercy College of Nursing.  She started her career at Fireman’s Fund Insurance, then spent many years working for the Law Offices of Domnitz, Prochazka, Levine & Muller. She then became Office Manager for Teamsters Local 481, up until she retired in 2007.

Bella was extremely active volunteering at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Mission Hills, most especially with the Italian Catholic Federation Branch 246.  She also volunteered at St. Vincent’s Elementary School.

Bella’s family and friends will remember her warm, welcoming smile, her excellent cooking and entertaining skills, her love of music (especially anything Motown, Neil Diamond, and old Italian classics), her unwavering faith, and the way she made everyone who knew her feel cared for and special.  She put family above all else, and her family always felt loved, welcomed and appreciated by her.  She looked forward to her annual family and friends reunion on Mission Bay every Independence Day week.  Bella’s heart was always in the right place, her kindness and generosity was legendary.

A celebration of life Mass and reception will be scheduled at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church at a later date.
