I've known Ben since he was 8 years old. I always knew him to be smart, goofy, and a little bit of an instigator, but he always made me laugh. Every year before Labor Day, our block would have a neighborhood block party. It was a huge event, and Claudia always provided a 'bounce house' for the little kids, which would be set up across the street from the Salazar's. It was always a great time watching the little ones enjoy themselves in the bounce house, but one year, late in the afternoon, I heard Claudia calling out 'Ben! Ben! Get out of the bounce house, you're too big to be in there!' Sure enough, Ben kept jumping, and then the bounce house collapsed and went flat. That memory always makes me laugh.
I will miss Ben waving to me when driving up or down the street, to and from his parents house. He never failed to wave, and I always waved back.
Much love to the Salazar family
Dianne

Salazar family,
Ben was a huge presence in our family the last few years and we will all miss him greatly. The service yesterday was beautiful and a true testament to Ben, he was a warm genuine man and I’m sure every person in attendance could have stood up and spoke at length about their love for him. I know I could have.
Much love,

To Pye, Claudia, Andy and Allie: I can’t imagine how painful it is for you to lose Ben. He was such a great person. I believe in heaven and I believe Ben is there now because it was made for people like him.
Ben, the best older brother: Ben was the first friend I ever made in school. Specifically, we met in kindergarten at Green Elementary. Ben was kind, intelligent and very popular (the girls loved him!). With that said, I will always remember Ben as the world’s best older brother. Throughout elementary and middle school, I and other friends would sleepover the Salazar’s house on Friday nights. We knew that whenever we went to Ben’s house, his little brother Andy was part of the deal. Ben included Andy in all the activities. Video games, bike riding, wiffle ball, garage basketball, pizza etc. I never minded because Andy was such a great little kid. But, I do remember thinking it was weird that Andy and Ben were actually best friends! You see my older brothers would give me a good pounding from time to time! But Ben was never that way. He truly loved spending time with his little brother.
I will miss you pal.

Some kids are too good to be in this tough old world. They are too kind, too generous, and too loving for us here. They are the ones that graduate, young as they are, to other places where even their elders have not yet arrived. Ben was that kind of kid. From a young age, he was mature: He was always kind to everyone he met. He was happy to see everyone. He would give you anything he had and not think twice about it, anytime day or night. He didn’t always get back what he deserved. It didn’t matter to him. He cheered people up when they were down and made them feel important. It was a joy having Ben around. He could fix things and loved to fix things of yours. Ben was strong and fearless and very smart, with a heart of gold. He was always respectful no matter what your age. He loved people and people loved him. “Hi, Aunt ——-,Uncle——-. How’s it going?” He was kind to our kids, hauled them all over the place. “ I can help you.” And with a big smile. We love you so much, Ben. Peace be with you.

Ben this is Auntie Sheila. I will always remember your kindness to me and people around you. Taking Brandy and Shannon, your cousins, under your wings. You are the only person that always answered your phone or called me right back to talk to me. If I asked you to do something you always did it, many times. I will miss going to all of those baseball games with you. You were my favorite person to take. You loved baseball like your Grandma. You inherited that kindness to every person from your mother. That was your greatest quality. I remember the stories you told me about how you helped poorer people that came to the bank and told them you would find a better way to help them and would give them money out of your pocket. You treated the richest to the poorest with dignity and the same. You were rewarded for your kindness by someone anonymously paying one year of fees for college. There are so many stories that I know about you helping strangers. You will always be in my heart. I love you.
To my family Claudia, Pye, Andy, Allie, Jillian,Aunts, Uncles, cousins, niece, nephews and friends there is a big hole but we will think and laugh about all of the funny and good things you always did. I will see you later.
Love Aunt Sheila

Ben was one of those guys that you could call any time you needed something. I have known Ben for almost 20 years, but we have become really close friends for the last 8 years. He was at every desert trip with my family, he was at my house at least twice a week eating dinner or playing cards, and every weekend he was not working on one of his and Pye's side jobs we were doing morning strolls through the Kobey’s swapmeet! He was at my wedding, he was at my house after my back surgery. Ben was always there. My condolences to the Salazar family. Karissa and I love you guys. And Ben I will see you again my man. I always will remember Ben’s laugh. He had one of the most unique but infectious laughs. First I gotta say I’ve never (still today) seen a guy who weighs 130lbs throw football like he did in my life!!! I’ll always remember the times we had working at Tivoli together. We used to play pranks, drive Alvina, Ron and most of all Maria nuts, and just have fun. But one thing that always came natural to Ben was his hard work ethic. Ben was always the nicest guy in the room and everyone loved him, the world definitely lost a good one, my heart breaks for Pye, Claudia, Andy, and Allie... I’ll never forget you Ben!

Hello Benjamin,
You were the best friend I never deserved. Your selfless acts of kindness were unmatched. You were in my corner and always there for me. Your legacy is like no one else. Missing you is an understatement. Countless summers being inseparable is what I’ll always remember. From the wiffle ball games to the late night twisted metal games sessions and the summer block parties. You taught me what love and values really mean. I just want to thank you. Thank you for allowing me to be your friend. Thank you for allowing me into your family. Most importantly thank you for always being a brother. You’re gone but never forgotten. I’ll always be here for your family because they’ve been family to me since day one. I would give everything in the world to hear you say hello Joseph. I love you Benjamin.

Claudia, Pye, Andy, Allie,
I am so, so sorry for your loss. Your son and brother was so full of light and love. His energy changed a room, gathering, mood, or anywhere it touched, entered, and was felt! Such a loving and gentle spirit and what a gift to the world and those that knew him. While he is no longer with you in body he is with you everywhere. He is in the sun that rises every morning. In the moon and the stars that shine at night. He is in the breeze that touches your skin and the raindrops that fall from the sky. He is in you and around you.
Someone told me once when you lose someone they are not truly gone...they are just in another room waiting for you. Ben is at peace in another room enjoying a glorious reunion with others who loved him and went before him. Thank you for sharing your gift of Ben with the rest of us. May you find comfort knowing family is forever and love is eternal .
With love and peace,

It still seems incomprehensible that I am writing on a memorial page for you Ben. You had a magnetic personality that everyone was attracted to. I remember meeting you, Andy, and Allie for the first time and being so excited to be included in a family that involved you three. We had countless sleepovers, after school hangouts, family trips, and fun loving memories that I will forever cherish. Even from a young age I knew how special you were and how lucky I was to be your cousin. When I was 5 or 6 I told my mom, “There must be something wrong with me...no matter what I do, I can’t stop thinking about Ben!” She had the funny and unfortunate job of informing me that since we were cousins I couldn’t be in love with you (haha). This memory though, speaks to the charismatic person that you were. Even as a little girl, I knew you were someone special that I always wanted to be around. Whether you were tricking me into believing that the bumps on roads were so blind people could drive, poking me with “the finger”, or drinking all of my kids’ Capri Suns...I loved my time spent with you...every moment of it. Your personality lives on in me, Josh, and my boys and I will forever think of you when we see “homies”.
Rest In Peace Cousin
Love Always,
Brandy

Pye, Andy, Allie, Jillian, Ryan, Dorothy and my baby sister Claudia.
Ben my first born nephew, our happy charismatic, fun loving, jokester, funny, helpful to others, caring and kind.
Ben was the sunlight when he walked into the room. His kindness to others including to your family, friends, co-workers, strangers, elderly and homeless (whom he called homies) will be forever missed.
I'm happy that my children grew up with you and that Cory got to spend many times being in your home learning from Uncle Pye. The early morning wake ups to do chores after staying up late playing games.
Your love for Games... you loved to play games..cheating a bit but oh well.
I will miss our phones calls asking for recipes and chit chatting.
Your family will take care of Sammy and I will do my best to take care of your Momma as much as I can from far away. I depend on her and she depends on me.
You go rest until we get there my nephew...it wont be long...you have your Grandma and many others to play games with and listen to music.
My heart is broken but God says to be absent from the body is to be present with our Lord.
Your Aunt Alicia will miss you!
