Obituary of Portia Michelle Dawson

On Monday, May 04 2020 ,"Portia Michelle Brown-Dawson", Loving and Devoted Mother of two children, passed away at the age of fifty five. Portia Dawson was born on August 28th 1964 in Ohio to two proud parents. She was able to receive her bachelors and achieve several Associates before her passing. Portia Graduated from Wayne high school and went on to live a long life of service work her current endeavor was with STAR/PAL and she also serve on the National Pal board as a region one representative. She was a force to be reckoned with.

She has two beautiful successful daughters with the same fire and determination as their mother. They now follow the footsteps of their beautiful mother changing the world one step at a time.  One the youngest Aleesha starting a career working as a barber and will have her own shop soon. Her eldest Aisha self sacrificing works with developmentally disabled Adults. A job not just anybody can do A job that is strenuous and altruistic. She has left her legacy behind through her daughters who continue to help make the world a better place. We know she is looking down on them and is infinitely proud of them for their past as well as any future accomplishments. Her legacy shines everyday.

Portia was particularly devoted to her kids that she worked with at STAR/PAL and made a difference in their lives. She would always take them to events such as football and baseball games. As well as help them toward their academic goals while molding them into future leaders of tomorrow. She loved outings with them filling their hearts with hope and aspiration every time she spent time with them. She truly left her mark and she will be missed by all the kids and staff who had the pleasure of meeting this amazing hard working woman.

It is no mystery she was sent from heaven and her time on earth was limited. God was missing his best angel so she had to return. While Portia was on this earth none of the time spent here was taken for granted, everyone she encountered was left with a smile on their face. She always stayed strong for those around her despite the obstacles she may have been facing herself. Her niece Ja-leesa Brown that she was close to and spent a lot of time with states” Aunt Portia and I were a lot alike. I could always go to her for advice. She gave great advice and was always willing to lend a helping hand”. Her younger sister Simone Brown who Portia was extremely close to states “I remember going to Olan Mills every year taking pictures” You can ask anyone and they will say the same thing. She was simply Amazing. A force to be reckoned with that is how we will remember her. She will live in our hearts forever.

Portia is survived by her daughters Aisha and Aleesha Dawson, and her loving parents Jimmie and Edna Brown, preceded by her brother Vincent and survived by her sister Simone Brown as well as a host of aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
