Obituary of Hazel Edwina Helland

Hazel Edwina Helland age 84 went home to be with our Lord on Friday, August 14, 2020, of natural causes. Her passing was peaceful, she was surrounded by love and her family.  The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.

Hazel was born July 1, 1936, in West Malling, Kent, England, the daughter of Sydney and Elsie Hyde.

Hazel followed her heart to the United States to marry Richard E. Helland. She departed England on April 11, 1957, aboard the SS United States. She left her home and family to follow her hopes and dreams across the ocean.

On May 4, 1957, she married Richard. From this union, four children were born. They were divorced after 31 years of marriage, she did not remarry.

Hazel was a beautiful and strong soul who loved her family very much. She shared her love of cooking, baking, and entertaining with each of her children. She was a master with the knitting needles. She could knit absolutely anything and didn't need a pattern. She loved Jesus and was very active in church and volunteered in many Christian organizations throughout the years. She has touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children: Richard Helland and his Wife Blanca, Wendy Bunch and her husband Jim, Lynette Helland, Deidra Howland and her husband Alan. Sister-in-law Vivian Green and her husband Allen, Grandchildren: Silas McNeil, Amy Heun, Heather Adams, Christopher Bunch, Jake Foster, Jesse Foster, Tyler Howland, Jessica Howland, and 18 great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and beloved family across the pond.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and many loved family members and friends.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date due to restrictions on large gatherings.
